A historic town where ancient traditions meet modern aspirations. Founded in the 15th century by the legendary warrior Òjorùbè, Ogotun-Ekiti stands as the birthplace of mat weaving and home to one of Yorubaland's most prestigious monarchies.
Royal Heritage
Home to the prestigious Ologotun throne, one of Ekiti's Pelúpelú monarchies. Our current ruler, Oba Adebayo Michael Adesanmi, is the 32nd Ologotun, crowned in 2022.
The Ologotun is the only Yoruba king who can see the innermost part of the sacred beaded crown.
Mat Weaving Center
