The People of Ogotun-Ekiti

Meet the vibrant community that makes our town special - their traditions, culture, and the spirit that defines our identity.

The Heart of Our Community

The people of Ogotun-Ekiti are the living embodiment of rich traditions, deep spirituality, and vibrant culture that has thrived for centuries. From ancient religious practices to modern community life, our people maintain a unique identity rooted in heritage and looking toward the future.

Post-War Resilience

After the historic Efon Alaaye war, our ancestors began an inspiring process of rehabilitation, reconciliation, and reconstruction. This period marked the return of captives who had regained their freedom, including notable figures like Ale, Aremo, Arojojoye, and Obaleyakin - the last two of whom became kings in succession.

"The post-war activities of our people were not different from pre-war activities, demonstrating the enduring strength of our cultural foundation."
